Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. is located in Maanshan City, east of Anhui Province. It is close to the river and has convenient transportation and abundant resources. The nearby Ninglang iron ore mine is one of the major iron ore producing areas in China, not far from the Huainan and Huaibei coal producing areas. The main products are various cast iron for casting, train wheels for railway transportation, tires, ring parts with various profiled sections, various angle steels and small and medium-sized steel. The output of pig iron is larger than that of steel. In 1990, it produced 2.23 million tons of iron, 2.04 million tons of steel and 1.54 million tons of steel. It is an important pig iron base in Jiangnan.
