Decoration pollution has always been a concern of people, especially in recent years. The number of people who cause cancer and leukemia in China every year is also growing year by year. Paint is one of the necessary decorative materials for home decoration. The safety of paint is directly related to the safety of home decoration. The safety of home decoration directly affects the health of family members. Therefore, the quality of paint is directly related to the health problems of family members. There are five kinds of harmful substances contained in the paint. The content of these five harmful substances also directly affects the safety and environmental protection of the paint.
1, VOC (volatile organic compounds)
VOC is the abbreviation of volatile organic compounds. Volatile organic compounds are organic substances that do not form a paint film in the paint and eventually volatilize into the atmosphere. Volatile organic compounds react with oxygen in the air to form ozone, which is harmful to the atmosphere and human health.
2, TDI (toluene diisocyanate)
TDI is mainly found in paints in the decoration and is derived from the synthesis of PU paint curing agents. Excessive TDI beyond the standard will cause harm to the human body, mainly sensitization and stimulation, eye pain, tearing, conjunctival congestion, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, asthma, red papules, maculopapular rash, contact allergies and other symptoms.
3, formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is a colorless, highly irritating gas. It has the characteristics of being volatile and highly toxic, and 35% to 40% of the aqueous formaldehyde solution is called formalin. Formaldehyde is highly toxic.
4. Benzene, toluene and xylene
Benzene is a highly toxic substance. Toluene and xylene are low-toxic substances. Inhalation of a certain amount of benzene, toluene and xylene can cause poisoning and even damage the hematopoietic system and nervous system.
5, soluble heavy metals
Heavy metals refer to metals having a density greater than 4.5 g/cc, such as lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, and the like. Some of the resin, pigment or drier in the paint will have soluble heavy metals. If long-term exposure to heavy metals such as lead can cause mild neurasthenia syndrome and dyspepsia, heavier patients will have anemia and lead paralysis.
All kinds of paints are composed of film-forming substances (various resins), solvents, pigments, desiccants, and additives. Ordinary paints usually use gasoline as a solvent, epoxy iron red primers contain a small amount of xylene, and the impregnating paint mainly contains toluene and a small amount of benzene. Spray paint (nitrocellulose lacquer) and thinner (banana water) contain a large amount of benzene or toluene and xylene. The main occupational hazard of paint production is the inhalation of organic solvent vapors, which makes the proportion of serious diseases such as aplastic anemia, leukemia, tuberculosis and pleurisy quite high. Most painters over 10 years of age have symptoms of cough, fatigue, headache, chest tightness, and weakness in the limbs.
