ASCOT, England, July 25, 2008 Element Six SA's board of directors announced today that its CEO Christian Hultner will officially step down on September 30, 2008, and announced the appointment of Cyrus Jilla to take over the company on October 1, 2008. New CEO. Christian Hultner will continue to remain on the board of directors of the company as a non-executive director. Element Six SA is an independent joint venture between De Beers SA and Umicore SA, with De Beers taking a majority shareholder position.
Non-executive Chairman Jonathan Oppenheimer expressed his appreciation for Christian Hultner's important contribution to the company over the past eight years. He said: “Christian Hultner led Element Six through the transition period during his tenure, making the company an undisputed market leader in the field of super materials. Beyond all industry peers, he also paints a good long-term blueprint for the company."
Prior to joining Element Six, the incoming CEO, Cyrus Jilla, worked for Bain & Company, a global business consulting firm, for many years and recently served as managing partner of the company's London office. He is a recognized expert in the field of strategy and corporate transformation, and has extensive experience in M&A. Cyrus has been providing consulting services to De Beers and Element Six management since 1999. He also began working for Element Six as a non-executive director in 2003. Previously, Cyrus also worked for the investment bank Schroders plc. Cyrus will also join De Beers' executive committee.
