Wang Jingjun, director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, explained how the general population can prevent bird flu infection:

1. Travel without poultry products;
2. Do not hunt birds, eat birds or pick up bird carcasses (the sick birds fall);
3. Do not eat raw food, cold food, cooking food should be heated and cooked, separate raw and cooked, good kitchen hygiene;
4. Strengthen personal hygiene, wash hands frequently, dry and ventilate more, pay attention to rest, and ensure nutrition;
5. Poultry farmers must vaccinate birds against bird flu in a timely manner;
6. Pet birds should not be released during the two migratory bird migration seasons of late winter and early spring and late autumn and early spring;
7. Farmers should pay close attention to the health status of birds and find a veterinarian if they find any abnormalities;
8. Farmers should clean the poultry house frequently, disinfect regularly, and wear protective clothing during operation;
9. When a large number of poultry deaths are found, report to the agriculture, animal husbandry and disease control departments in a timely manner, and the masses should be educated after the outbreak of poultry;
10. If the water is scattered in the epidemic village, the bleaching essence tablets shall be issued to ensure the disinfection of the villagers' drinking water;
11. Educate villagers in epidemic villages to resolutely not eat, buy or sell poultry meat and eggs;
12. Live poultry will not be traded or slaughtered within 10 kilometers around the epidemic site;
13. After disinfecting the affected village, educate the villagers to do front and back house hygiene and indoor hygiene, and engage in patriotic hygiene activities;
14. Remind the villagers that if they feel unwell, they should tell the village doctor as soon as possible and go to the hospital for treatment.
