Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. designs, develops, manufactures and sells 3.9~13L in-line four-stroke water-cooled diesel engine assemblies, including electronically controlled diesel engine assemblies and mechanical diesel engine assemblies. The engine power covers 80-680 horsepower (1 horsepower 0.735kW). With a production capacity of 250,000 units/year, it is the leading production base for light, medium and heavy duty diesel engines in China. Most diesel engine assemblies are used in commercial vehicles, and a small number of diesel engine assemblies are used in construction machinery and generator sets. This paper introduces several Dongfeng Cummins electronically controlled diesel engine assemblies and their technical features. Under the premise of meeting emission standards, the vehicle's fuel economy is further improved. 1.ISB3.9 electronically controlled diesel engine assembly
The diesel engine assembly (see Figure 1) is an in-line four-stroke water-cooled four-cylinder 3.9L diesel engine. The fuel system is upgraded based on the B3.9 mechanical diesel engine assembly. The electronically controlled high pressure common rail fuel system is used. The technology, coupled with the Selective Catalytic Reduction System (SCR) aftertreatment system, meets National IV emission standards and has the technical potential to meet national V emission standards. Its power is 120-160 horsepower, the maximum torque is 410-510N·m, and the external characteristic minimum fuel consumption is <200g/kW·h. The diesel engine assembly can be applied to light-duty trucks, light-duty engineering vehicles and light passenger vehicles. It has been successfully applied in the Kapte series of light commercial vehicles of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd.
The technical features of this diesel engine assembly are as follows:
(1) The number of components integrated with components is about 40% less than that of similar engines, and the possibility of failure is minimized.
(2) Convenient service and mechanical B3.9 diesel engine parts have more than 80% versatility, and spare parts for maintenance can be fully guaranteed.
(3) Low fuel consumption The electronically controlled high pressure common rail fuel system has a high injection pressure and a fuel consumption reduction of more than 5%.
(4) Powerful and low-speed power is 10% higher than that of the National III diesel engine.
(5) Low noise The fuel pre-injection is set by the engine to reduce engine noise.
(6) Light weight is lighter than similar diesel engines.
