TCEP flame retardant is prohibited in children's products

Recently, Canada formally approved a bill prohibiting the use of the flame retardant tris-(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) in infant products containing polyurethane foam. The new bill will take effect on October 24, 2014.

On April 23, 2014, Canada published in the Canadian communiqué the amendment to Schedule 2 of the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act prohibiting the use of flame retardant TCEP in children under three years of age containing polyurethane foam, including but not limited to toys. And childcare products.

The new bill will take effect six months after the release of the Canadian Communiqué (October 24, 2014), prohibiting the manufacture, import, advertising, and sales of these products.
