One of the authors of the paper, Bryan Boudouris, said “Our idea is whether we can make polymers that can be produced on a large scale and at the same time make them electronically active. The key to the success of the transparent material's conductivity is the radical groups. The team began computer simulation with the addition of a partially transparent radical group. Through a number of simulation teams, the desired radical group that allows the polymer to conduct electricity was obtained. The team designed the process for preparing this new material at room temperature based on the simulation results, and successfully obtained a new type of conductive glassy transparent polymer film material. The results are published in the journal Science.
